Sotera's John Hillen Leads
Corporate Huddle Discussion

The Corporate Huddle held its second event on June 20th,
continuing to draw a stellar group of former professional athletes and big name business executives. With well-known media and sports leaders in attendance, Sotera’s former CEO and current Advisory Board Vice Chairman John Hillen led a group discussion on successful business growth strategies and how to inspire leaders within the corporate ranks.  John spoke from his unique and broad experience, and explained how he has successfully both grown and sold companies in unsettled economic environments.  He answered helpful questions from the group, which spanned from how to team with senior management to pursuing financing options.

Dr. Hillen stressed how important it is to distinguish between business growth and building company value, and cited Yahoo’s recent acquisition of start-up Tumblr as an example of targeting growth to be more attractive in the market and not just to be a bigger company.  Berenzweig Leonard Managing Partner Seth Berenzweig reminded the group that successful growth relies on having the right policies in place, particularly in the area of human resources.  Seth also discussed how business leaders must balance between daily management of the business with general business development responsibilities.
